Arctic Monkeys Unveil Video for Black Treacle

When Suck It And See was released back in June of last year I said that ‘it would be a travesty if ‘Black Treacle’ does not become one of the singles from the album’. I also said that it was ‘one of the album highlights, with a sublimely joyous guitar line that is just begging for radio airplay.’ Well in November I got my wish as it was announced that it would be the fourth single from the album and now they have followed that up with a video.

The video was filmed in Sheffield and Los Angeles and directed by Focus Creeps, who have the following to say:

“The ‘Black Treacle’ video is a compilation of the darker outtakes of ‘Suck It & See’. In the desert, the bright rays of the sun cast a long dark shadow. It’s a prequel where laws get broke, and a sequel where hearts get broke. On the one hand, the song kind of says, now matter how low things go, you can always dream, and on the other hand it’s a video that kind of shows: kids, don’t try this at home.”
