Feeder are one of those bands whose musical progression has always been easy to map so, while 2010′s Renegades, which took the band back to their heavier routes, was a nice surprise for their older fans it did seem a bit out of place. ‘Borders’ the lead single from their forthcoming eighth studio album, Generation Freakshow slots right back in to the sound that Feeder were exploring on Silent Cry and expands it, adding more guitars and a more anthemic feel.
It’s a much more commercial sound than the last few singles but, while it may have entered anthemic indie rock territory it’s still undeniably Feeder underneath. From the opening chord, a series of ‘ooohs’ and the roll of the snare drum it’s clear that Feeder are back and meaning business. Throw in the great singalong chorus and you’ve got a song that’s guaranteed to be a live favourite on the upcoming tour.
‘Borders’ is released on 29th January with Generation Freakshpw scheduled for release on April 23rd.
